The capacity of a liquid to maintain contact with a surface due to intermolecular interactions. It is determined by a force balance between cohesive (liquid to liquid) and adhesive (liquid to surface) forces. It is also determined by measuring the wetting angle that the liquid forms with the other surface or liquid.
