A ring-shaped floater caused when the posterior vitreous humour detaches (PVD) from the retina. It is larger than the other types of floaters and can interfere with vision. People with the disorder see random light flashes across their visual field, a disease known as photopsia. Weiss ring is harmless and typically disappears on its own. However, in rare cases, it can cause a retinal tear or impair vision.
