The anterior displacement of the vitreous gel, which leaves the posterior capsule and enters the anterior eye chamber. This is a complication commonly seen after cataract surgery and could lead to complications such as retinal detachment, high astigmatism, endophthalmitis, and cystoid macular oedema. Signs of vitreous loss include anterior chamber deepening and a lateral displacement of nuclear fragments.
