Visual field constriction leading to loss of visual acuity in the peripheral vision with a retention of central vision. The field of vision is drastically narrowed, resulting in a circular tunnel-like vision field, as though one was looking through a tube. It results from damage to the brain, optic nerve, and retina and is symptomatic of retinitis pigmentosa.
