A surgical procedure where sections of the trabecular meshwork and adjacent structures are removed to lower intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients. The method allows aqueous humor to drain from within the eye to a filtering bleb immediately below the eye surface. It is performed when laser surgery and medications fail to lower eye pressure.
