A model of visual processing where the brain uses information relayed into it by sensory systems. It assumes that the world’s higher knowledge is more significant than its component parts. Higher-cognitive processes are deemed to occupy the top of the sensation and perception process while those sensory systems involving vision, hearing, and touch occupy the bottom position.
