A serious condition where a blood clot (thrombus) forms in a vein or artery, preventing or obstructing proper blood circulation. The three main causes of the disease are endothelial cell injury, abnormal blood flow, and thrombophilia. Without treatment, the blood clot may move, reducing oxygen supply and blood flow to vital body organs.
