An acuity screening technique for pre-verbal and nonverbal children. The test is conducted at a distance of 50 centimeters to one meter using rectangular cards with one side having a box of white and black stripes. The child is shown a card after the other, starting with the largest, and the examiner observes the child's eye to note if they move towards the strips. The process is repeated until it is determined that the child can longer notice the stripes. The child's vision is ascertained by the smallest lines they can see.
