The longest orbital extraocular muscle running from the body of the sphenoid bone to the eyeball’s superolateral area, and which originates in the annulus of Zinn. Innervations are provided by the trochlear nerve. It produces eye movements that direct the gaze inferolaterally by intorting, depressing, and abducting the eye.
