A form of anterior blepharitis caused by staphylococcal bacteria. It characterized by the formation of crusty, scaly patches on the eyelid margin. It usually is harmless, although it can be acute when there is bacteria overgrowth, which often leads to an eye infection. It frequently affects people living in warmer climates and women. About half of people with the disorder are diagnosed with dry eye syndrome.
