A tear test conducted before anesthetic or antibiotics are applied, or before perfoming procedures involving extraocular muscles. It uses strips whereby, the period taken to wet one centimeter of a piece temporarily placed in the eye is estimated. It is useful in the examination of eye diseases such as corneal ulceration and dry eye.
