A group of nerves that emerge from the ciliary ganglion and travel in a wavy course along with the ciliary arteries, one set below and above the optic nerve. They accompany the long ciliary nerves to pierce the sclera at the rear of the globe and innervate the ciliary body, iris, sclera and cornea.
