A severe scleral inflammation usually linked to an underlying autoimmune condition like rheumatoid arthritis. It’s of two types; anterior scleritis which involves the front area of the sclera and also the most common and posterior scleritis which is usually not associated with an autoimmune disease and affects the rear part of the eye.
