Rapid, ballistic, bilateral, conjugate eye movement that allows a visual target to be brought into focus on the fovea. It is the fastest type of eye movement which abruptly changes from one point of fixation to another. For example, the eyes jump from one word to another when one is reading or while gazing around a room. It can also occur during sleep.
