A form of skin cancer that affects the bottom skin layer, especially areas that are overexposed to the sun. It includes the zone around the eyes, face, edge of the nose and scalp hairline. It's a slow developing cancer that rarely spreads to other body areas. The disease accounts for about 75 percent of skin cancers and predominantly affects men and the elderly.
