Surgery performed to correct strabismus where the extraocular muscles are tightened or strengthened. One of the eye muscles is detached and a section of the muscle is removed from its distal end, before it is reattached in the same place. An advanced method involves moving an eye muscle from its original location and placing it in a more forward position.
