A disorder where the upper eyelid droops and regular muscle action can’t keep it adequately raised. The extent of the eyelid drooping can vary from little to complete, covering the pupil and blocking normal vision. The condition affects both adults and children and arises from the decreased function of the extraocular muscle (levator palpebrae), responsible for eyelid elevation.
