A term describing a class of the proteolytic enzymes formed in the culture supernatant of Streptomyces griseus K-1, and used to clean contact lenses. It can also be used to hydrolyse proteins in research application, disperse fibroblastic cell lines, histochemistry, and cell culture for tissue dissociation.
