A disorder characterized by the chorioretinal atrophy incidental to the degeneration of the choriocapillaris. It leads to loss of the focal retinal pigment epithelium and photoreceptor. The inner retina is not involved since blood supply from the central retinal artery remains unaffected. The condition progresses gradually over time and is usually unilateral and may occur bilaterally. It is not associated with any systemic complications or genetics in origin.
