A laser surgical technique used to provide clear vision sometime after cataract surgery. Cataract surgery involves removing the crystalline lens and implanting an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). After a while, the lens capsule housing the IOL may get wrinkled or cloudy, causing distorted vision. The procedure creates an opening in the opaque capsule allowing light to flow through for clear sight.
