A rare, typically unilateral condition that results from failure of the fetal hyaloid vasculature to involute. The hyaloid artery is supposed to atrophy by the eighth month of gestation but remains in Cloquet's canal after birth. It can lead to severe ocular complications such as vitreous hemorrhage, amblyopia, and retinal detachment.
