The synaptic terminal of a cone photoreceptor with several clefts situated in the outer plexiform. It consists of three types of synaptic specializations (gap junctions for electrical contact to rod spherules and other cone pedicles, basal contacts with putative off-bipolar cells, and invaginations; deep pits). It synapses with at least two bipolar cells and two horizontal cells.
