One of the three visual pathways located at the lateral geniculate nucleus of the thalamus, which receives information such as high-resolution contrast, color, and high contrast from the ganglion cells. They project this information to the various layers of the primary visual cortex. They are smaller with thin axions and less myelin and have smaller receptive fields.
