A well-defined serrated line that is the junction of the most anterior part of the retina and the ciliary body. It is 2mm wide and is composed of about 48 tooth-like projections. At this site, there’s a transition from the complex multi-layered neural retina to the single, non-pigmented layer of ciliary epithelium. It is also where retinal detachments are commonly seen because here, the retina is firmly attached to the choroid.
