Phenomenon where children use their finger or knuckle to poke, press, and rub their eyes; actions which likely produce mechanical retinal stimulation. This behavior is done to stimulate flashes of light, but when performed in excess, may result in keratoconus and deep-set eyes. It is a characteristic sign of Leber congenital amaurosis.
