A retinal disease characterized by the pathological development of new abnormal vessels that emanate from older choroidal blood vessels. The abnormal vessels increase in many locations under the retinal pigment epithelium through multiple breaks in Bruch’s membrane. The condition is usually associated with severe loss of vision leading to blindness.
