A form of sickle cell retinopathy characterized by salmon patches, black sunbursts, and iridescent spots on the peripheral retina. Other characteristics include findings of venous tortuosity, obstruction of the central retinal artery, occlusion of peri-macular and peri-pupillary arteriolar, and foveal avascular zone enlargement in the central retina.
