A component of the lacrimal apparatus forming the upper dilated section of the nasolacrimal duct. It joins the lacrimal canaliculi and works as a reservoir of excess tears from the eye surface. The small pouch is situated in a depression created by the lacrimal bone and the frontal maxilla process.
