It’s the sensory eye nerve and an offshoot of the ophthalmic nerve in the upper orbital fissure. It travels through the orbit, forming the long ciliary nerves, the ethmoidal nerves and ends as the nasal and infratrochlear branches. They serve the conjunctiva, the nasal mucous membrane and the skin at the tip of the nose .
