A chronic viral condition marked by firm, round, painless nodules of varying sizes. The bumps release a milky substance when squeezed. The infection can expand to the adjacent skin when the buds are injured or scratched. The disease can also spread through contact with infected objects and person to person contact. It predominantly occurs in children and people with weakened immune systems. In healthy adults, the infection can occur in mucous membranes, especially genitals, and can be a sexually transmitted disease.
