The most dangerous form of skin cancer that starts in the melanocytes, which are responsible for producing melanin. The cause is unknown; however, exposure to UV radiation increases the risk of developing the disease. There are four main types of melanoma; acral lentiginous, nodular, superficial spreading, and lentigo maligna. It can rapidly spread to other body organs if not treated quickly.
