Relatively large neurons with thick axons that make up the sub-pathway of the visual system and located within the Adina magnocellular layer in the thalamus. They gather input from all types of retinal cells, which helps the brain to detect flicker, location, movement, distance, speed of a moving object, and low-contrast stimuli.
