A test to determine cyclodeviations or induce monocular diplopia, where two equal Maddox prisms containing fused bases are introduced before one eye. A vertically aligned Maddox rod is placed in a phoropter and presented before the eye to enable the patient to see horizontal line images. The prisms’ axes are rotated until a state of orthophoria is achieved or when the lines are perceived to be parallel.
