A congenital, neurological condition characterized by neurological deficits and palsies of several brain stem cranial nerves, chief among them being the sixth and seventh cranial nerves. It results in mask-like faces, abnormal gazing, and inability to smile or suckle. It may also cause lagophthalmos, horizontal gaze weakness, deafness, and retardation.
