A fascial tissue connecting the levator muscle to the connective tissue (tarsus) in the upper lid and the covering skin. It conveys the force of the levator muscle to raise the superior eyelid. A congenital or acquired stretching, dehiscence or disinsertion of the levator aponeurosis can lead to ptosis.
