A rare form of an invasive skin cancer. It is melanoma in situ i.e., confined to the outer surface of chronically sun-damaged skin. It becomes lentigo maligna melanoma (LMM) when it starts developing beneath the surface of the skin. It is usually located around the neck and head in the elderly.
