Total dislocation of the lens from within the pupil's patellar fossa due to trauma on the zonules, glaucoma, chronic uveitis, or congenital abnormalities. The entire lens dislocates into the vitreous chamber or into the anterior chamber (rarely), leading to severe eye complications including multiple refractive errors, pupillary block glaucoma, damage to the retina and blindness.
