A small, artificial lens permanently inserted or implanted into the eye to replace the eye’s natural lens during cataract surgery. It is made of acrylic, silicone, or other plastic material, and coated with anti-ultraviolet ray properties to help protect the eye. Types include toric, multifocal, accommodating, monofocal, and phakic implants.
