The internal ear, the section of the ear situated within the temporal bone and responsible for balance and hearing. It includes the vestibule, semicircular canals and cochlea. Disorders of the inner ear can interfere with the transmission of sensory information to the brain and cause dizziness, vertigo and difficulties with hearing, balance and vision.
