A rare, degenerative, non-inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology, characterized by total cornea ectasia where the cornea undergoes structural changes causing it to thin considerably and transform into an uncharacteristic globular shape. It appears in two forms namely, congenital (associated with Leber's congenital amaurosis, blue sclera syndrome and Ehler-Danlos type VI) and acquired (presents in adults and associated with vernal keratoconjunctivitis, chronic marginal blepharitis, and dysthyroid ophthalmopathy).
