Inflammation of the iris that typically develops in one eye though both eyes may be affected, leading to severe complications like cataracts, retinal damage, glaucoma, and loss of vision. It is a type of uveitis caused by trauma, systemic infections like syphilis, systemic diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, or may also be classified as idiopathic.
