A unilateral or bilateral eye abnormality characterized by ocular defects (hole) of the iris, lens, eyelids, zonules, retina, ciliary body, optic nerve, and choroid either at birth or through surgery/trauma. It can appear as notches or gaps in the inferonasal quadrant of the affected part and is frequently related to microphthalmia.
