A surgical procedure where an incision is made into the iris to create an artificial or enlarged pupil by transversely dividing the iris fibers. It creates an opening that allows the flow of aqueous humor from the posterior to the anterior chamber and is commonly done with a laser to treat closed-angle glaucoma.
