The region of the striate cortex between the cytochrome oxidase blobs, containing contrast specific parvo-cells and sensitive to orientation (instead of sensitive to color). It doesn't stain with cytochrome oxidase and contains neurons that are less sensitive to wavelength compared to blob neurons.
