A viral disease where a varicella-zoster virus infection is reactivated, characterized by a unilateral painful skin rash in the dermatomal forehead of the trigeminal nerve, and a painful inflammation of the anterior structures of the eye. Some patients may show only ophthalmic symptoms, mainly involving the cornea.
