A common benign condition where blood leaks from the vessels between the conjunctiva and sclera in the absence of discharge and inflammation. It is caused by coughing, sneezing, or blunt trauma, appearing as a red dot on the sclera and can range from dot-blot hemorrhage to severe bleeding such that the sclera is invisible. It takes 1-2 weeks for the blood to get reabsorbed into the system.
