A part of the conjunctiva which indirectly conjoins the posterior eyelid and the eyeball. It is formed by the conjunctiva on three sides of the globe with an extendible plica on the fourth side, allowing the eyelids and globe to have independent movements. It is divided into superior and inferior fornices.
