It is a test that induces electrical reaction from the brain's visual cortex and is clinically used to analyze visual function. It is particularly useful with uncooperative or unconscious patients and is the only technique that can assess visual function under general anesthesia. However, the stimulation can be challenging to conduct in infants and young children, especially in severe vision impairment or developmental disability.
