A ubiquitous plasma glycoprotein produced by hepatocytes that binds to integrins. It circulates in the bloodstream where it is incorporated into fibrin clots, and affects the platelet function upon tissue injury. It also plays a role in hemostasis, cytoskeletal organization, embryonic differentiation, cellular morphology, and phagocytosis.
