It eliminates the use of a bladed surgical tool in the corneal flap creation. It is also useful in many other processes including presbyopia correction, intrastromal presbyopia correction, astigmatic keratotomy (AK), channel creation for implantation of intrastromal corneal ring segments (ICRS), small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE), femtosecond lenticule extraction (FLEx), etc.
